कुछ समय पहले की बात है एक प्रोफेसर अपनी क्लास में कहानी सुना रहे थे, जोकि कुछ इस प्रकार है -

एक बार एक युवा दमपति जहाज में सफर कर रहे थे तभी जहाज के साथ एक घटना घटी। जहाज पानी में डूबने लगा। पूरे जहाज में अफरा तफरी मच गई। लोग एक एक करके जहाज से उतरने लगे। तभी युवा दमप्ति का भी उतरने का नम्बर आया। लेकिन समस्यां ये थी कि जैसे ही औरत उतरने वाली थी जहाज और तेजी से डूबने लगा। उसी समय इस घटना ने कुछ यू मोड़ लिया जो बहुत ही चौकाने वाला था। औरत ने अपने आदमी को जहाज से धक्का दे दिया। फिर जहाज डूबने लगी और औरत ने अपने आदमी से चिल्लकर कुछ कहा। 

इतना कहानी सुनाते ही प्रोफेसर ने रुककर अपने विद्यार्थियों से पूछा कि बताओ उस स्त्री ने अपने पति से क्या कहा होगा। 

विद्यार्थी जीवन में बच्चों में प्रश्न का जवाब देने कि बहुत ही ललक होती है। कुछ विद्यार्थी तुरंत चिल्लाये और कहा कि स्त्री ने अपने पति से I hate you ! कहा होगा। 

सभी विद्यार्थी से प्रश्न का जवाब सुनते हुए प्रोफेसर ने बीच में देखा कि एक विद्यार्थी बहुत ही शांत बैठा है। प्रोफेसर ने उससे भी पूछा कि बताओ तुम्हारा जवाब क्या है। 

इस पर लड़के ने कहा कि मुझे ऐसा लगता है कि औरत ने अपने पति को यह कहा होगा कि हमारे बच्चे का देखभाल करते रहना। 

यह सुनकर प्रोफेसर बहुत हैरान हुए और उन्होंने ने विद्यार्थी से कहा कि तुमने यह कहानी पहले सुन रखी है क्या ?

इस पर विद्यार्थी ने कहा कि जी नहीं सर, यह बात मेरी बीमार मरती हुई मां ने मेरे पिताजी से कही थी। प्रोफेसर ने फिर दुखपूर्वक लड़के से कहा कि तुम्हारा जवाब बिल्कुल सही है। 

इसके बाद प्रोफेसर ने इस कहानी को आगे सुनाया और कहा कि जहाज डूब गया और स्त्री पानी में डूबकर मर गई। उसका आदमी किसी तरह से किनारे पर पहुंचा और अपना पूरा जीवन अपने बच्चों को ठीक प्रकार से लालन पालन में लगा दिया। कई वर्षों बाद जब व्यक्ति की मृतु हुई तो एक दिन सफाई करते हुए उसकी एक पुत्री को अपने पिता की एक डायरी मिली। 

जब डायरी को उसकी लड़की ने पढ़ा तो उसे पता चला कि जिस समय उसके माता पिता जहाज में सफर कर रहे थे उस समय उसकी मां एक जानलेवा बिमारी से ग्रस्त थी और उसके जीवन के कुछ ही पल शेष रह गये थे। जहाज में बहुत ही अफरा तफरी का माहौल हो गया था और उस समय उसकी मां ने उसके पिता को कहा था कि मेरे जीवन के कुछ ही पल रह गये हैं और हमें अपने बच्चों का ललन पालन भी करना है और आप मुझे बचाने कि कौशिश करोगे तो हम दोनों ही मारे जायेंगे। इसलिए हमारे बच्चों के भविष्य को बचाने के लिए आपको जीवित रहना होगा। आप किसी तरह से यहां से जाइयें और बच्चों का ख्याल रखना। 

ऐसे कठिन समय में लड़की के मां और पिता ने एक कड़ा निर्णय लिया। उसके पित ने डायरी में लिखा कि तुम्हारी मां बहुत ही निडर थी जिसने उसे अपनी मृतु के समय पर भी बचने का साहस दिया और मुझे बताया कि तुम्हारे बिना हमारे जीवन का कोई मतलब नहीं है। उस समय मेरा भी मन था कि तुम्हरी मां के साथ समंदर में समा जाऊ लेकिन मुझे तुम्हारे भविष्य के लिए जीना पडा क्योंकि तुम्हारी मां से मैने वादा किया था कि मैं तुम्हरा ख्याल रखूंगा। 

जब  प्रोफेसर ने अपनी कहानी समाप्त की तो पूरी क्लास में शांति का महौल हो गयाा था।

हमें यह समझने चाहिए कि किसी भी प्रकार का कलह होने पर पहले जो माफी मांगे, यह जरुरी नहीं कि वह गलत ही हो। हो सकता है कि  रिश्ते को बनाये रखने के लिए उसने ऐसा किया हो। 

दोस्तों के साथ खाते-पीते या पार्टी करते समय जो दोस्त बिल चुका रहो हो, यह जरुरी नहीं कि उसका जेब नोटों से ठसाठस भरा हो। यह भी तो हो सकता है कि दोस्ती के सामने वह पैसों कि अहमियत को कम समझता हो। 

जो लोग आपकी सहायता करते हैं यह जरुरी नहीं कि वह आपके एहसानों के बोझ तले दबा हो। यह भी तो हो सकता है कि उसके दिल में आपके लिए दयालुता और करुणा कुट कुट कर भरा हो।
